Energy Efficiency Transformation at Ripon Tennis Centre

Energy Oasis installed intelligent LED lighting at Ripon Tennis Centre, significantly reducing energy consumption and costs while enhancing the facility's sustainability.

Project Background

Ripon Tennis Centre, located in Ripon, North Yorkshire, is a family-friendly tennis club known for its exceptional facilities. The centre boasts 2 indoor courts, 6 outdoor floodlit courts, 2 padel tennis courts, a gym, an aerobics studio, and a fully licensed cafe/bar. This vibrant community hub is dedicated to providing top-notch amenities for families and tennis enthusiasts alike. 

 

Energy Oasis conducted a comprehensive assessment of the existing lighting systems across the tennis courts and gym. The project involved designing and implementing a tailored intelligent LED solution that aligned with the centre's operational and sustainability goals.

Our Approach

 

The installation of intelligent LED lighting brought about substantial improvements:

Tennis Courts

  • Reduced annual energy consumption from 29,513.48 kWh to 15,025.05 kWh, resulting in savings of £3,911.88 per year. 

  • CO2 emissions were decreased by 3.839 tonnes, with a project ROI of 3.7 years.

  • The enhanced lighting significantly reduced shadows on the court, improved visibility and playing conditions, elevating the overall experience for players.

Gym and Studio

  • Reduced annual energy consumption from 3,130.22 kWh to 1,005.25 kWh, saving £594.99 annually. 

  • This equates to a CO2 reduction of 0.563 tonnes.

These changes not only cut costs but also significantly reduced the centre's carbon footprint, setting a benchmark for sustainability in sports facilities.
