Intelligent LED Lighting for Enhanced Light Levels and Energy Reduction for Cepac Doncaster

This case study looks at how Energy Oasis helped Cepac achieve superior light quality, advanced controls, and significant energy savings through the installation of intelligent LED lighting.

Cepac, with four sites in the UK, embarked on a group project to enhance light levels and reduce energy consumption. As part of this initiative, Cepac engaged Energy Oasis to provide a quote for a new extension at their Doncaster site. After witnessing the benefits of Energy Oasis' lighting solution at a previous printing site, Cepac selected them for the lighting aspect of the project.

Project Background

Energy Oasis conducted a comprehensive survey and designed an intelligent LED lighting solution tailored to Cepac's needs. The design featured a 30% reduction in lights compared to a previous design, optimising energy usage without compromising on light quality. We offered a turnkey solution, which Cepac gladly accepted.

Our Approach

Energy Oasis installed 20 Lumi-Optima fittings, each equipped with individual controls, including daylight harvesting and PIR motion sensors. These advanced features ensured optimal lighting conditions and efficient energy utilisation, allowing for substantial cost savings.

Our Solution

The results of the intelligent LED lighting installation at Cepac's new extension in Doncaster are remarkable:

  • Lux level of 350, providing excellent light quality throughout the facility.

  • Independent controls in each fitting, resulting in minimal usage unless it is dark outside, thanks to the large roof lights in the new extension.

  • 30% reduction in the number of fittings compared to the original design from the M&E contractor, streamlining the lighting infrastructure.

  • Utilisation of Enhanced Capital Allowance (ECA), enabling Cepac to claim a 20% rebate on the installation costs, further enhancing their financial savings.

  • Notably, if the building had been illuminated with traditional sodium lamps, the total energy saving would have reached an impressive 94%.

Client Testimonial

“The new lights are really good, we particularly like the controls on each light. When we drive in, we only light up where we need to work.”

— Danny Brewster, Manager.

“We went with Energy Oasis as they clearly understand LED lighting better than anyone else we have engaged with. The intelligent controls make so much sense, we will be looking to do this at more sites.”

— Richard Walton, Managing Director
